Amur Leopard, Typographic Poster

Amur Leopard,Typographic Animal Poster. From my typography class. In this project, I had to create a poster of an animal from the World Wildlife Fund's endangered species list entirely out of letters and symbols. The purpose of this project was to put our typography skills to the test to create an insightful and informative poster about the species of our choosing, along with an eye-catching illustration. I chose the Amur Leopard, native to rough, cold Primorksy Krai region of Russia, alongside the border of China. I first, found reference images, researched the fonts I was going to use, and found the colors I was going to use for the illustration. Once I had everything assembled, I went in over the ref image of my choosing with the font I chose to illustrate the leopard. I did the same for the alpine trees in the background. Next, I went over the leopard and trees with the pen tool and added in color blocks to create values. The last step was adding in the animal name, tagline, and statement of why they are important and need to be saved. I created a grayscale version, along with 2 colored versions. I also created a mockup of all 3 of my posters.
Above is the grayscale version.
Digital. Adobe Illustrator. Fall, October 2023.
The first color variant, red/green/yellow.
The 2nd version, in blue.
The reference image of the Amur Leopard that I used. I found this, for free, on Pixabay.
The reference image of the pine trees I used. I also found this on Pixabay, for free.
The original sketch.
My font research. The fonts I used: for the animal name, Dupincel VF. For the tagline: Quatro Slab bold. For the statement, Turnip bold. For the creation of the leopard, Modesto Medium.
The color theory swatches I found off Coolors for the color variants.
The poster mockup of all 3 of my posters.
